HORSPATH PRE-SCHOOL NURSERY CELEBRATES LOTTERY GRANT TO IMPROVE OUTDOOR FACILTIES FOR CHILDREN

Horspath Pre-School Nursery is celebrating the award of £8025.00 from the Big Lottery Fund towards its £15,000 outdoor improvement scheme, which will extensively transform the outdoor facilities for its children, aged between 2 ½ and 5 years.
The nursery, which serves the local communities of Horspath, Garsington, Cuddesdon, Wheatley, Cowley, Headington and Oxford, has been fundraising to revolutionise its outdoor space. Previous fundraising has allowed a new soft wet-pour surface to replace concrete slabs, and a large covered sandpit for the children.

The Big Lottery Fund grant will be used to purchase a new play area with climbing apparatus, bridges and a slide. It will be crucial for helping the children improve their physical development and social play.

Supervisor Jo Emmerson said ‘We are absolutely delighted to have received the grant – all of our children will benefit enormously, and the timing of the grant means that we will be able to finish the work far sooner than we had previously hoped, given that all of our fundraising efforts rely solely on our parent volunteers of children within the nursery. This means that all of our current children in attendance will be able to use the new facilities and benefit from enhanced learning opportunities this school year.’
Horspath Pre-School Nursery is a registered charity, with a Committee formed from elected parents. The Chair of the Committee, Eirwen Parker, commented ‘This grant from the Big Lottery Fund is a huge boost to the success of our “Outdoor Challenge”, and we are convinced that the improvements at the nursery will have a major impact on our children’s education and development’.
